The mission of the MIT Media Lab is to "design technology to create a better future." By incorporating radical technological advances into innovative new devices, researchers at the MIT Media Lab live the future today. Students at the lab design things like foldable scooters to ease urban congestion, prosthetics that allow amputees to climb mountains, and new forms of communication devices. The research and developments underway at the lab will certainly have a profound impact on the world we live in tomorrow - and on how our organizations operate.

On this year's tour, we will focus on developments that may one day transform our companies and how we work. We will explore technologies and insights related to how organizations function and improve productivity. In large organizations where collaboration and knowledge sharing can be impeded simply by the size and geographic dispersion of the organization, sensing technologies could improve our understanding of how we work, in addition to helping us develop the personal relationships necessary to work more effectively. These "sensing organizations" are really about mining the information in the world around you, and understanding the context and structure of interactions so we can use and move information more effectively. We will visit a number of projects in progress to explore new technologies around communications, and how we interface with machines and each other.

Come and meet some of the brightest minds in the country. We hope you will come away inspired by what is possible and aware of the changes on the horizon.
